Dhaka film festival to screen ‘Charm’ from Iran

Iranian feature ‘Charm’ is to go on screen at the 15th Dhaka International Film Festival in Bangladesh.

Iranian feature ‘Charm’ directed by Seyyed-Jalal Ashkezari has been scheduled to go on screen at the 15th edition of the Dhaka International Film Festival (DIFF) in Bangladesh.

A social melodrama depicting consequences of Iran-Iraq war in 1980s, ‘Charm’ tells the story of a woman who faces problems on the night of her niece wedding.

Popular Iranian stars Hengameh Qaziani, Atila Pesyani, Abbas Ghazali are among the cast.

The festival’s website also announced that Hossein Kondori’s ‘Nobody Dies Here’, ‘Until Ahmed Returns’ by Sadeq Sadeq-Daqiqi as well as ‘Hailstone and Sunlight’ by Reza Karimi will vie at the Cinema of the World section of the event.

Other sections of the event will also display a number of Iranian titles, including ‘Malaria’ by Parviz Shahbazi, ‘Daughter’ by Reza Mirkarim, ‘Life and a Day’ by Saeed Roustaee, ‘Identity’ by Behrouz Sebt-Rasoul, ‘The Window by Rahbar Qanbari’ and ‘Valderama’ by Abbas Amini.

The event has dedicated a special section to two recently deceased filmmakers Abbas Kiarostami from Iran and Yeşim Ustaoğlu from Turkey.

Established in 1992, the 15th edition of the Dhaka International Film Festival will be held on January 12-22, 2017, in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
